Configuration Wizard

The Configuration Wizard will ask you for fundamental information to properly configure the basic features of eXchange WALL.

Enter your organization's Internet domain name.

Only choose 'Connect using modem' if you want eXchange WALL to control the modem directly. If you have a proxy server that uses a modem or are connecting to the Internet via a router or gateway then select 'Connect using my local area network'.

If you chose 'Connect using modem' then this dialog allows you to specify which connection profile to use along with the user ID and password assigned to you by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for logging into their network. You should have already created a connection profile in Windows. Make sure you can connect to the Internet using this profile. Test it by using Windows to dial the connection and trying to surf the web using your browser.

If you plan to retrieve messages from Internet mail accounts enter the name or IP address of the POP3 server that has your mailbox(es). If you enter a value for this field the following dialogs will allow you to configure a POP3 account for mail downloading. Also, specify the name or IP address of your ISP's SMTP server (if sending all mail through your ISP) or the IP addres of your DNS server for sending messages direct to their destination domain.

Enter the POP3 mailbox's account name (user ID) and password.

A single user account only receives messages for one person. All the messages in this account are downloaded and forwarded to one email address.

A multiple user account receives messages for more than one person (also known as a global or domain account). When the messages for this account are downloaded, eXchange WALL must determine the intended recipients for each message. The most common way to do this is to read the message's copylist (To, Cc, etc) looking for addresses that have the same domain as your organization. More sophisticated techniques are available and can be specified in the administration program later.

Specify on which computer Exchange Server is running. If not running on the same computer as eXchange WALL then enter that computer's TCP name or IP address. In addition, select which version of Exchange Server you are running.

Click Finish and eXchange WALL will configure itself based on the information you have provided. The FAQ: Setting Up Exchange Server, will be launched at this point to provide you with information on how to setup Exchange Server to work with eXchange WALL.
